Skidmore aiming for the big time
Skidmore is a 2004 graduate of Cascade High School, where she was the senior class president, a three-year golf team captain and, as a senior, her school's athlete of the year. She went on to play four years at the University of Idaho, where she posted the best career scoring mark in school history. In addition, she was the Big West Conference medalist in 2005 and the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2006. After graduating from Idaho in 2008, Skidmore qualified for the LPGA Futures Tour in 2009. She played in eight tour events that year and missed every cut which was, she admitted, "a very big eye-opener for me." She returned to qualify for the tour the past two years, but also has been entering other tournaments, including events on the Suncoast Ladies Series, a Florida mini-tour. Fashionable on the fairway Every pro golfer needs sponsors, and Everett’s Renee Skidmore has been fortunate to partner with Shi Golf, a Seattle company that produces resort wear — clothing that can be worn on the golf course and off — for women.
Skidmore is not given a salary from Shi Golf, but she receives apparel to wear when she competes.
And she also got the chance to experience being a model. Last month she was photographed at Bellevue’s Glendale Country Club wearing an assortment of fashionable attire.
“It was honestly a lot more work than I thought it would be,” she said. “And it was really cold that day. But it was still fun to get my hair done, to get my makeup done, and to get all dolled up.
“I enjoy fashion. I’m a girl and I know what I like, and I like to look cute and put together.”
Still, Skidmore has no plans for a career change.
“I definitely enjoy modeling,” she said, “but golf is my ultimate ambition. I’d rather be walking down a fairway than a runway.
Harmony Golf Preserve - News
On the last weekend in April, she won a Suncoast Ladies Series tournament at the Harmony Golf Preserve in Harmony, Fla. The 25-year-old Skidmore finished with a three-day total of even-par 216 to win by two strokes. Her victory was worth $1700.

The event takes place at the Harmony Golf Preserve in Harmony, Fla.
Format: 2-person shamble. 2 Divisions: Gross and Net (Net division participants must have a verifiable USGA handicap). Each team must declare upon registration which division they would like to compete in. In order to compete in the Net division, players must provide a verifiable USGA handicap.
Entry Fee of $190 per team includes: The winning team from each division, Net and Gross will receive a trip to Scottsdale, Arizona to play in the Troon Challenge Finals hosted by Troon North Golf Club in late August! Harmony will take care of your airfare, hotel and entry fee for the event!
