Preserving the past is nothing new to Irvin Larson. In fact Irvin shared his knowledge and fascination of the past in many events in recent years.

His most recent project involved a valuable, Irvin received when he was just five years. Last winter, Irvin found parts and sanded his precious legacy - a bike 1920 Wards Hawthorne. This particular bike was a birthday gift to Irvin on his fifth birthday. He collected the pieces and repair many bikes, but it was a very special purpose."My father got the bike, but it was a kind of delapitated, so my dad fixed it until the winter after giving it to me," Irvin shared.

Irvin had the bike at the station Fulda as an antique, then returned to his yard shed. After learning that he needed more exercise following health problems, Irvin decided to fix his bike. "The bike was laying around and finally I decided to pick and roll," said Irvin. He had a neighbor to Sioux Falls for medical reasons and spent the day shopping. Irvin finally fell to a wheel flea market. It took all four weeks to get the bike back in peak form.According to Irvin that he loved riding a bike, but not the one who had the same meaning as this bike in particular. Irvin went on to say that it is only the second time the bike was rebuilt and, in fact, has had four sets of tires throughout its history.

This is the first bike Irvin was restored, however it has been repairing bicycles for many years. His collection includes a recently purchased three-wheeled bicycle that he had at least one offer. Also included are popular John Deere bikes."There were only a few years in the 1970 John Deere actually produced bikes," said Irvin. "They were green, white, black and some blues." Irvin's position as a white and a green John Deere bicycle. Irvin looked on ebay and found another white bike and figured this is JD actually worth $ 75 to $ 300.

Irvin was a trailer located on his back yard with many old bikes and parts he had collected from piles of junk or sell. "Nobody wants to repair their bikes more," said Irvin. "You can go buy a new bike for about $ 60."He continued by saying," All these 10 bikes there only cost me gas money to get them. "This gives the opportunity to Irvin pick up parts and supplies for almost nothing.

The John Deere 1020 tractor is quite an old machine from the ‘New Generation’ series of tractors. This tractor had a very long production run that lasted from 1965 up until 1973. The tractor is powered by one of 2 different engines, both of which are made by JD themselves. The first is a diesel engine that is naturally aspirated. This engine is a 3 cylinder model that has a liquid cooling system to prevent it from overheating and has a total displacement of 2.5 liters. This diesel engines fires at a compression ratio of 16.7 to 1. The second choice is a gasoline model that is naturally aspirated also. This engine also has 3 cylinders and is liquid cooled. The gas engine fires at a compression ratio of 7.5 to 1. Both engine choices for the JD 1020 use a paper air filter to stop small particulate matter from entering into the engine where it can potentially clog it up.

Both engines on the John Deere 1020 use the same gearbox. This is an unsynchronized transmission that gives the tractor a total of 4 speeds going forwards and 4 for reversing. It allows the JD 1020 to reach a top speed of 26.7 kph (16.6 mph) going forwards. The operator uses a dry clutch for changing gears.

The weight of the John Deere 1020 varies depending on the engine built into it. With the diesel engine, it has a total weight of 2209 kg (4870 lbs), while with the gasoline engine, it’s total weight comes to 2145 kg (4730 lbs). The safe maximum ballasted weight of the JD 1020 is 2701 kg (5955 lbs). The wheels on the tractor that support this weight are fairly standard. The front wheels each measure 5.5-16 (5.5 inch width, 16 inch rim diameter). The rear wheels each measure 13.6-28 (13.6 inch width, 28 inch rim diameter).
