According to expert gynaecologist Dr Suman Bijlani, high heels during pregnancy contribute to lower back pain and a poor sense of balance. The lower back, already strained by the added we i g h t near the stomach, is further burdened by hormonal changes that make the supporting ligaments lax and the centre of gravity shift with the growing pregnancy. "Reserve heels for special occasions, and choose wide-based ones, which are not too high (especially in advanced pregnancy)," suggests Dr Bijlani, adding that flats remain the best choice for regular use.
Consultant obstetrician Dr Sheetal Sabharwal agrees. "Wearing high heels increases the chances of falling down, risking the lives of both the mother and her unborn child," says Dr Sabharwal, who believes a platform heel is okay. Gynaecs recommend flats because some women experience swelling of the feet and ankles, arch and heel pain, during pregnancy, which makes high heels a definite no-no and wide shoes the better choice. They may be deglam, but sneakers , flip flops and ballet pumps support the back best during pregnancy as against fashion - able footwear that can causelong -term damage.

K’lee has quoted the correct law for you. (I don’t know where people get these rules. 3′? Your palm?) However, she is incorrect in saying that it is illegal only in public. The prohibition upon carrying a switchblade on your person applies everywhere, not just in public. So unless you keep it at home in a drawer or display case you will probably be breaking the law (and good luck obtaining it without breaking the law).
