Corinne Bailey Rae finds new love, three years after husband's death

STROLLING arm in arm with her new love, Corinne Bailey Rae has clearly found ­happiness again, three years after the tragic death of her husband.

The 32-year-old singer has had little to smile about since ­musician Jason Rae died from a drugs and booze overdose in 2008.

But her broad grin as she walks with pianist and producer Steve Brown shows the joy has returned. The pair held hands and kissed as they arrived at Leeds University where she was given an honorary doctorate of music.

Steve is believed to be a long-term friend of Corinne’s who has been by her side since Jason’s death. The talented ­musician inspired her to find her voice again after she turned her back on her career.

He helped put together her top five album The Sea when she finally returned to the industry last year.

It is believed he has been staying with the singer at her Leeds home, where she has her own studio and has been working on a new album due out next year.

Steve has been with the Mobo-winner on several overseas trips, including one to the White House.

Corinne, from Leeds, graduated at the university in 2000 after studying English Literature.

She has been on a painful road to recovery after Scots-born Jason, 31 – a saxophonist with the group Haggis Horns – was found dead at a friend’s house after a night out in Leeds. The pal was a recovering heroin addict. Bottles of methadone were found by Jason’s body.

In a previous interview, Corinne told how the tragedy rocked her. She said: “I didn’t do anything for a year. I mean, nothing. I sat at my kitchen table for a whole year. People came and went, life drifted by. It was just bleak. Bleak.

“I didn’t even try to write. It was too big a thing, too raw. I was empty, hollow.

Corinne Bailey Rae is no longer a grieving widow. Three years after her husband Jason Rae died of drug overdose, the jazz singer has found a new love in pianist and producer Steve Brown who allegedly has been standing by her side since Jason's death in 2008.

The 32-year-old singer was given an honorary doctorate of music at Leeds University, and keeping her company was Steve. They were pictured holding hands and kissing as they arrived at the venue. According to Daily Mail, "Corinne beamed from ear to ear on her special day, with her special new man."

Steve is a long-term friend of Corinne who also put together her album " The Sea ". He has been seen together with her on many occasions including the visit to White House. In fact, they have lived together in her house in Leeds where she works on her upcoming album.

Corinne was married to Jason for seven years before his death. "My husband is my first and only true love. He is the most beautiful and complex person I have ever known," Corinne said at that time.
