Arizona Personal Injury Firm Publishes Infographic About School and Daycare Safety

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) August 16, 2011

Arizona personal injury attorneys, Alexis and Mark Breyer, of Arizona’s “Husband and Wife Law Team,” recently produced a child safety infographic about the dangers of unqualified daycare providers and use of physical restraint and seclusion in schools. As the proud parents of 8 children, the Breyer’s believe strongly in a safe and positive learning environment for all students.

The Numbers Don’t Lie

Most parents aren’t aware that, based on data provided by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 44 percent of workers in the child care industry had only a high school degree or less in 2008. In addition, the National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (NACCRRA) states that only 10 states require caregivers who work from their home to have a childcare license.

Daycare and school abuse is more common than one would think. Fox News reports that about 900,000 children are abused or neglected in daycare centers each year and 70 percent of these children are under the age of three. Each year, 4.5 million children suffer sexual misconduct by school employees, from inappropriate comments to physical abuse. The most common type of child abuse is neglect, followed by physical abuse, sexual abuse, physiological abuse, and medical neglect.

Increasing Arizona Child Care Awareness

Arizona is 1 of 19 states without any laws regarding the use of restraints and seclusions in schools. Over the past 20 years, students have been abused in schools with everything from carpets burns from being dragged to a seclusion room, to bruises from being pinned to the ground. Many of those victims were children with disabilities. The Child Welfare League of America (CWLA) reports that between 8 to 10 children in the U.S. die each year due to restraint procedures in schools. Numerous others suffer injuries such as bites, damaged joints, and broken bones.

The Husband and Wife Law Team

Arizona’s Husband and Wife Law Team specializes in personal injury and wrongful death cases, and have helped many families cope with the devastating reality of an injury or loss caused by another’s negligence. The firm’s daycare infographic was released to raise awareness about child safety at school and other child care centers. The firm welcomes others to read and share the infographic to help increase awareness about child safety. Alexis and Mark Breyer believe there are many highly reputable child care centers and schools available, but parents must take the time to choose the best possible people to watch and protect their children.
