Restore A Finish does just what the name says

Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the doors of a furniture re-finisher?

Would it surprise you if I told you they use two products that you can buy and do what they do, for a whole lot less? Let me tell you a little story. Many years ago at a hardware show in Denver, Colo. I was looking down an aisle and a old piano caught my eye. I thought what in the world is that vendor doing with a piano here? As I got closer I noticed a man was pouring something on a rag, and he was wiping it across the piano.

The closer I got the more I realized that the finish on the piano looked bad. The varnish was all cracked and looked like spider webs all on the piano. Where he had just rubbed in the product on the piano – the finish looked renewed. The spider web look to it was gone. And where there was marks on the piano where the stain was faded, it colored the wood beneath the varnish. It actually went through the varnish to color the wood beneath. That was unheard of. I was speechless, and for me that’s a big deal.

Then he took another clean rag and put a product on that and started rubbing over the finish that he had just applied. Now that old piano, half of it looked like it had been refinished. And he had done that in minutes. I knew that these two products were industry changing. I had to have them. And we did get them.

Restore A Finish was the first product and it literally does what the name implies. It comes in different wood tones, and they are so versatile you can even blend them to get a custom color. The second product is called Feed and Wax. I used it on some kitchen cabinets some 13 years ago. The painter told me the cabinets would have to be re-finished and I asked him to try the Feed and Wax.

When I came back two weeks later, I looked at the cabinets and grinned because they looked brand new. And this was a house I was hoping to flip, so the less money spent, the better. When I found the painter in another part of the house, I said “Well I guess you had to refinish the cabinets.” He looked at me and laughed, “No Johnnie, it’s just the Feed and Wax!” We sold that house in two hours.
